CALVO Coso Volcanic Field GREEN/NORMAL – No eruption threat at Coso Volcanic Field; EQ swarm intensity declining.

Jul 11, 2019 23:36 – The California Volcano Observatory detects neither significant change to the volcanic system beneath Coso Volcanic Field, Inyo County, California, nor impending volcanic activity, following the Ridgecrest earthquakes. The seismic swarm activity continues within the volcanic field, but as of the time of this announcement, intensity of the seismic swarm is declining. The Coso geothermal field contained within the Coso Volcanic Field overall has not experienced heightened levels of seismicity when compared with previous swarms.

The current activity at Coso can be …

HVO Hualalai GREEN/NORMAL – No activity of concern for Hualālai.

Jul 3, 2019 20:53 – No significant activity was recorded at Hualālai Volcano over the past month. Four earthquakes were recorded in the vicinity of the volcano. Seismic activity is back to background level following the April 13th M5.3 earthquake. HVO’s continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver atop Hualālai recorded no significant deformation over the past month.

HVO Mauna Kea GREEN/NORMAL – No activity of concern for Mauna Kea.

Jul 3, 2019 20:53 – No significant activity was detected at Mauna Kea Volcano over the past month. A dozen earthquakes were detected in the vicinity of the volcano. A single, continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver atop Mauna Kea (operated by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory) recorded no significant changes in deformation during this time.

YVO Yellowstone GREEN/NORMAL – YVO Monthly Update: background seismicity and deformation

Jul 1, 2019 18:26 – Recent work and news

In June 2019, Steamboat geyser smashed more records! During the month, 7 water eruptions occurred, on June 1, 7, 12, 15, 19, 23, and 28, bringing the total number of eruptions for the year to 25. At this rate, the annual record for eruptions—32, set last year—will fall this summer! June also saw the shortest interval between eruptions that has ever been recorded—slightly over 3 days. University of Utah and National Park Service scientists deployed a network of 51 temporary seismometers around Steamboat geyser in mid-June and have already …

AVO Iliamna GREEN/NORMAL – Debris avalanche detected in seismic and pressure sensor data. No volcanic unrest.

Jun 25, 2019 17:05 – AVO detected seismic and pressure sensor signals associated with a debris avalanche on Red Glacier on the flank of Iliamna Volcano around 4:05 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time on Thursday, June 20, 2019 (00:00 UTC on June 21, 2019). Avalanche events are somewhat common at this volcano. The most recent prior to last week’s occurred in April 2019. The seismic signals from the avalanche were observed on volcano monitoring networks on Illiamna and Redoubt volcanoes. Infrasound from this slide was detected with pressure sensors in Dillingham, Fairbanks, and those on the EarthScope …
